Traffic control staffing

BNRG

BNRG supplies certified traffic-control flaggers to construction sites, roadways and utility projects across Calgary and southern Alberta, and has operated since 2014. The website had two jobs to do at once: convince people to apply, and make it effortless for site supervisors to book a crew.

The brief

What the website
had to do.

Two audiences with opposite needs land on the same page. A flagger wants to know what the job is and how to apply; a site supervisor wants to know the crew is certified and how fast they can get one. The page had to serve both without splitting into a maze of sections, and it had to feel like a real, established Calgary company rather than a job board.

  • Give BNRG one clear place to send both job seekers and the companies that hire its crews.
  • Make applying take under a minute on a phone, which is where most flaggers will find the page.
  • Put the phone number and a quote request one tap away for supervisors who need flaggers tomorrow morning.

Design approach

How we
built it.

  • A cinematic hero: a Calgary skyline image sequence drawn to a canvas and scrubbed by scroll, so the first screen moves with the visitor instead of sitting still.
  • Smooth scrolling and scroll-triggered reveals throughout, with a persistent Apply Now button in the navigation so the primary action is never more than one tap away.
  • A single page in a deliberate order: who BNRG is, open opportunities, the company story, the application form, then a dedicated "Need flaggers on your site?" block with a call button and an email-for-quote button for companies.
  • Bold, high-contrast typography and BNRG's orange on a light ground, so it reads instantly on a phone in daylight on a job site.

What's on the site

Built for the people
who use it.

Scroll-driven film hero

A frame-by-frame skyline sequence rendered on a canvas and tied to scroll position, with a static fallback for reduced motion.

Application form

Name, phone, email, certification status and a message, sized for thumbs, with a clear confirmation.

Hire-a-crew block

A tap-to-call button and an email-for-quote button for companies, plus the three things they need to know: certified and insured, day rates or long-term, short-notice starts.

Open opportunities

Role cards with full-time, part-time and entry-level tags and certification-support messaging.

Brand video

A looping mascot clip that loads only when it comes into view, so it never slows down the first paint.

Mobile first

Every section stacks cleanly at phone width; the headline, badge and buttons stay above the fold.

  • Single-page static site, no CMS to maintain
  • GSAP and ScrollTrigger animations with Lenis smooth scrolling
  • Canvas image-sequence hero
  • Lazy-loaded video with poster image
  • Reduced-motion fallback
  • Custom domain and SSL
